The original tapestry, woven in the early 16th century is on display in the Musée du Cluny in Paris. It is part of six original tapestries in the "Lady with Unicorn" Series. It is the only one in the series not devoted to one of the five senses. The tapestry depicts a beautifully clad lady before a tent, crowned by a banner, which translates To My Only Desire . During the middle ages it was believed that only an innocent girl could approach a unicorn. The brave lion and legendary unicorn symbolized strength and purity.
The tapestry comes with hooks on the back for hanging. If you order a rod and finial set to hang the tapestry, the hooks will be replaced with a rod pocket. Due to the woven nature of fabrics, widths vary slightly and therefore each rod is custom cut to fit each tapestry. A rod and finial set should be ordered at the same time as the tapestry. A custom cut rod cannot be ordered later. Tassels and wall décor also are available to accent your tapestry. Please contact the 125West Concierge if further assistance is required.
