A beautiful and very practical enhancement to InterMetro wire shelving are our exclusive butcher-block shelf inlays constructed of solid hard-rock maple. The thick, heavy inlay creates the ideal work surface for a contemporary kitchen island, baker's rack, or kitchen cart constructed from InterMetro wire shelving components. We offer a large assortment of sizes that correspond to InterMetro wire shelf dimensions that are available in edge-grain or end-grain construction in either an oiled or lacquered finish.

The premium end grain "checker board" construction is the strongest type of construction available making it ideal for butcher blocks and cutting boards. Made from 1-¼" thick hard rock maple, it will last almost forever and is easy on knife edges. The oiled finish is food-safe and recommended for food preparation, while the lacquered finish inlay creates an attractive work or desktop surface for your Intermetro shelving. If you are planning to use your shelf inlay for cutting and chopping tasks, choose an end-grain inlay with oiled finish. Dimensions are shown below.
